Gulfstream brings the G400 and G300 mock-up to Europe for the first time

The event in Farnborough brought together one of the three flight test G400s and the first European display of the G300 mock-up, reinforcing the manufacturer's position in the continent's medium segment.

Gulfstream held a customer event on June 8 at its maintenance center in Farnborough, United Kingdom, and took the opportunity to make two European debuts at the same time: a flight test G400 — the first to come off the production line — and the first full-scale mock-up of the G300 to be shown on the continent.

The G400 that arrived in Farnborough covered the Washington D.C. stretch in 6 hours and 12 minutes, flying at an average speed of Mach 0.87 on sustainable aviation fuel. The aircraft is one of the program's three flight test units, which took off for the first time in August 2024. Certification, originally scheduled for 2025, remains pending.

The G300 has another story. Announced in September 2025 as the successor to the G280, the model entered a test campaign in December. Like its predecessor, it will be manufactured by Israel Aerospace Industries in Tel Aviv and will have two Honeywell HTF7250G turbofans. The mock-up gave European customers their first concrete view of the aircraft's cabin and proportions prior to certification.

The choice of Farnborough as the stage is not accidental. Europe is the main market for the two smallest jets in the Gulfstream portfolio: most intra-European flights are within the G400's 4,200 nm and G300's 3,600 nm ranges. On a continent where the network of smaller airports favors medium segment aircraft, the two models are fighting for a relevant space — and Gulfstream clearly wants to be present in the decision-making process of local buyers before the competition arrives with a certified product.
