Textron delivers the 500th Citation CJ4 on the eve of the Gen3 generation

Cessna's light jet has reached the milestone of 500 units produced since 2010. The feat comes at a time when the manufacturer is preparing the certification of the CJ4 Gen3, which debuts Garmin G3000 Prime avionics and automatic emergency landing.

In production since 2010, the CJ4 reaches 500 units just before the debut of the Gen3 generation.

Textron Aviation celebrated the production of the 500th Cessna Citation CJ4, a milestone achieved by a model that has been in line since 2010. The feat was celebrated with the assembly line teams in Wichita and reinforces the commercial longevity of one of the manufacturer's best-selling light jets, with more than 450 units delivered to operators around the world.

The brand arrives at a time of transition. Cessna is preparing the certification of the CJ4 Gen3, scheduled for this year with the FAA, which represents the next chapter of the platform. The new generation introduces the Garmin G3000 Prime avionics suite, with touch controllers, and the Garmin automatic emergency landing system, which takes control and brings the aircraft to a safe landing in the event of the pilot's incapacitation.

The CJ4 occupies a strategic part of the portfolio: it is a light jet with autonomy and cabin that serve both the owner-pilot and charter operators. Sales consistency over fifteen years helps explain why Textron chose to refresh the model rather than replace it — preserving a mature, widely supported design while modernizing cockpit and systems.

For the Brazilian market, where light Citations have a consolidated presence, the arrival of the Gen3 means an updated replacement option without breaking with a platform already known by local operations — a factor that weighs on those who evaluate training, maintenance and resale value.
